The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green earth, dwelling deeply in the present moment and feeling truly alive.

Forest Therapy
-
Forest therapy is a guided journey into deeper connection with nature through the medium of your senses. You may have also heard this called "forest bathing." On a forest therapy/bathing walk, you are immersed in nature - in the healing phytoncides emitted by trees, the soothing sounds of wind and water, and the textures of rocks and plants.
-
A typical walk lasts 2-3 hours. During that time, I will offer a series of invitations to help you connect with and relax into the natural world around you. For example, I might invite you to watch the clouds sailing overhead or to explore the textures of different natural objects or to sit for a few minutes with whichever tree pulls your attention. Every invitation is an opportunity to slow down, explore, play, feel, and experience. Between invitations, participants typically have the opportunity to share their experiences with one another if they would like to do so.
-
The benefits of spending a few hours in the natural world--particularly among trees--are numerous. In fact, the practice of forest bathing was developed in Japan as a response to increases in stress-related illnesses. Spending time in nature can decrease stress hormones, balance blood pressure, decrease inflammation, improve mood, and boost cognitive performance. It can also promote experiences of awe, which in turn generate feelings of connectedness and compassion. If you're wondering if or how a forest therapy walk might benefit you, I encourage you to come try it! Test it yourself, and see what happens.
